Lake Valencia Photos Home Lake Valencia Lake Valencia and Lake Willastein were part of the Maumelle Ordinance Works and were used for fire suppression. Both lakes had several fire hydrants around them with pipes going down into the water. In 30 years I have never found any written information about either lake. All I know is what has been told to me and what I have witnessed since 1979. Both lakes are used as water retention lakes for rain run off. Lake Valencia has a spillway that empties under Maumelle Blvd and flows into the wetlands area of the industrial park. Beverly Masters, Former City Clerk and long time Maumelle resident Many strollers, bikers and folks fishing can be seen daily along the banks of this popular lake. Students from the nearby Academic Plus Charter School walk around the lake daily, as do many members of the adjacent Maumelle Wellness Center. The busy Maumelle Library sits on the boardwalk boarding the north side of the lake, providing a picturesque view of the lake.
